In a secret drug trial unit, thousands of Americans are being held against their will…
A young ER physician, fresh out of med school finds out, and soon unimaginable forces of evil are hot on his trail…
But finding the place is only the beginning. The real secret is more terrifying than anyone can imagine…
It is no secret that I am a big fan of Mick Bose’s novels, loving the pace and excitement of his Dan Roy series, so I was excited to be invited to read his latest offering – a medical thriller.
The story begins with Alex Querci, a gifted young doctor working as an intern in the ER of the John Marshall hospital, and hoping that his career will progress with gaining the coveted position of resident. Trouble begins to pursue Alex when he tries to follow up on patients he has treated only to find they are no longer on hospital premises. What seems like a few minor mysteries to be solved very quickly escalates into a race against time to discover exactly what is going on, how many are involved and the dreadful realisation that the bad guys will stop at nothing to achieve their aims.
This is a heart-pounding, fast-paced read and you need to have your wits about you to keep up. Although an entirely different kind of story line, I found myself reminded more than once of John Grisham’s The Pelican Brief. As with all great thrillers, your first instinct is to think that surely it couldn’t be true – but then, there are enough plausible threads to this tale to make you think again … scary stuff!
My sincere thanks to the author for the arc of this novel. Highly recommended by me!
